Join the Marquis of Granby and participate in the historic fyfe and drum tradition. Learn to play a musical instrument, make new friends, travel to interesting places and share in the comradery of the corps.

The Marquis of Granby is open to all interested youth, age 9 to 21

No prior musical experience is necessary!

Weekly fyfe and drum lessons, instruments, marching uniforms and food for when we are on the road are provided for an annual fee of $100.

Fundraising is available to help offset the membership fee and/or cost of special trips.

Children can experience what the Marquis is like for free, for up to three months, before they decide whether they want to join the Corps.

What being in the corps means to its members

The Marquis is a place where you can be wholeheartedly yourself and be accepted for who you are. We act as if we are all family, and I couldn't be more appreciative of it.

Rachel Abrahamson

Fyfer, Sergeant Major, Member since 2011

Marquis has played a big role in becoming the person that I am now. They have taught me discipline and how to become a better musician.

Layne Cramer

Snare Drummer, Sergeant, Member since 2010

Granby Memorial Day Parade (2015)

The Marquis of Granby hold practices every Wednesday at First Congregational Church in Granby, CT from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. In this time period, playing line members get an hour of marching practice with the full corps and an hour of music lessons with our instructors. Recruits and flag line members that do not take instrument lessons have an hour of marching practice with the full corps, and then another half-hour of marching practice. Recruits that are taking instrument lessons are pulled out of marching practice for a one-on-one lesson with an instructor. The instructors’ bios are available on the Our Instructors page.
